Gabrielle Basiano Biography

Gabrielle Camille Celada Basiano, also known as Gabby Basiano, is a Filipino model and beauty pageant titleholder who was recently crowned Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2022. Her full name is Gabrielle Camille Celada Basiano (Tagalog pronunciation: [baano]; born December 17, 1997), but she is more commonly referred to by her stage name. She will compete at the Miss Intercontinental pageant in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, in 2022 on behalf of the Philippines.

Early life and education

Basiano’s parents, Manuelito and Mary Basiano, raised him in Borongan City, which is located in Eastern Samar. She attended the Asian Development Foundation College in Tacloban City to earn a Bachelor of Science in Tourism degree. Miss Friendship International 2019

Basiano and Lorena Rodrigues, both of Brazil, competed in the worldwide pageant that was held in Chengdu, China on July 27, 2019, and the two women tied for first runner-up in the Miss Friendship International 2019 competition. One month after being appointed the first Ambassador of Tourism for the Philippines, she went up against 48 other contenders from all around the world in the competition. The championship for that year was won by Emilia Dobreva of Serbia.

Binibining Pilipinas 2021

The Binibining Pilipinas 2021 competition was held in Quezon City on July 11, 2021. Basiano, who was competing on behalf of Borongan City, won the award for Best in Long Gown and advanced to the position of First Runner-Up. Her gown, which Ken Batino and Jevin Salaysay designed, was given the name “Perla,” and it was responsible for her winning the award for Best in Long Gown. Basiano provided the following justification for her selection of the dress

I choose to wear a hooded gown dedicated to the current situation our world is facing right now. As the world is covered with uncertainties and challenges, the hood symbolizes the hope of unmasking all our worries, and going forward, towards a pandemic-free world.

Binibining Pilipinas 2022

Basiano competed once more in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant in 2022, this time representing Borongan City. She earned the title of Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2022, as well as the awards for Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown. Nicole Borromeo of Cebu was named as Binibining Pilipinas International 2022, Chelsea Fernandez of Tacloban as Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2022, and Roberta Tamondong of San Pablo, Laguna as Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2022.

During the segment of the pageant devoted to questions and answers, guest panelist Senator Risa Hontiveros posed the following inquiry to her: “Pageants are a way to celebrate attractiveness as well as goodwill. On the other hand, there is a lot of negativity both online and offline that does nothing to empower women like us. If you are successful in being our Binibini, how do you plan to respond to rumors that are not true and other comments that are critical of your beauty, intelligence, and the way that you spend your life?” Basiano answered, saying:

Good evening, everyone. I have been receiving a lot of opinions from other people and I am not complaining about it because people are entitled of their own opinion. As for me, I will always remind women that we are strong, independent, and courageous because these are the traits that are very critical to the complicated roles that us women play into society. Thank you.

Due to the delay in announcing Nicole Borromeo as the winner of the Binibining Pilipinas International 2022 pageant, speculations began to circulate many hours after the coronation that there was a crown mix-up and that it had been given to Basiano instead of Borromeo. After everything was said and done, both of the beauty queens clarified that there was never any kind of mistake made during the crowning ceremony.
